Southern Nichols - New Orleans Team Racing 15-16th March 2008
RTYC have been invited to take part in a Team Race for the Southern Nichols Trophy. This is a competition organised by Southern Yacht Club. The trophy was donated by Commodore Nichols of NYYC following SYC’s clubhouse and trophies that were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina.
The Southern Nichols takes place in club-owned Flying Scots which are 19ft long with 3 persons on board weighing a minimum of 480 lbs.
This event attracts all the key clubs (c.24) from the South Coast of the US and takes place in the Gulf of Mexico.
In addition to the main event we are organising a ‘friendly’ event on the preceding Thursday and Friday against the SYC.
